Forest School is a long-term, child-centered outdoor education program that takes place in a natural setting. Forest School training is a professional development opportunity for anyone working in education or the outdoor industry. Training covers a range of topics, including: Practical and tool skills, Woodland and ecological management, Leadership, Risk evaluation, and Learning theory application. 

The level 3 qualification is the minimum qualification required to set up and run your own Forest School program.  Level 2 Forest School training qualifies someone to work as a Forest School Assistant, helping Forest School practitioners plan and deliver programs. It's a good way to gain experience before moving on to the full Level 3 Forest School Leader course. Forest School programs are learner-led and holistic, and are designed to help people develop confidence, social skills, and communication skills. 

Activities include: 

  • Climbing trees
  • Making campfires and cooking
  • Woodworking
  • Building shelters and dens
  • Foraging
  • Social games like hide and seek
  • Using nature for arts and crafts

 Bushcraft is the practice of spending time outdoors and developing skills to help you enjoy your time in nature. Bushcraft can also help people develop problem-solving skills that can be applied to other areas of life 


Survival is the act of staying alive in an emergency and getting out as quickly as possible. 

Skills include: 

  • Firecraft: C
